Fukushima Recovery East Coast Bus Tour
15 years on from the devastating events of the 2011 triple disaster - earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster - this guided tour provides a chance to see Fukushima's modern east coast for yourself and visit some of the major sites involved. You'll be shown around by an English-speaking guide with deep knowledge of the region and its history. Departing from and returning to Koriyama Station - 75 minutes from Tokyo on the bullet train - this day trip will take visitors to: - The Great East Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Disaster Memorial Museum - The ruins of Ukedo Elementary School - The shopping hub of Namie Roadside Station - The new March 11 Memorial Park for a moment of reflection A deluxe lunch at the Futatabi Futaba hotel using local ingredients is included in the tour price. The tour will be held at a special price of 5,000 yen - down from 15,000 yen - for two initial dates, Saturday 10 October and Saturday 21 November, 2026. Meet with tour operator
Meet tour staff at the bus pick-up spot near the bus stops at the West Exit of Koriyama Station. The bus will then head east towards Futaba, taking about 1h50m via scenic route 288.

Ukedo Elementary School
Known as the 'miracle school' where all students and teachers survived, Ukedo Elementary was preserved as it was when the tsunami made landfall, making it for a stark reminder of the power of natural disasters.

Shopping at Namie Michi no Eki Roadside Station
Japanese 'michi no eki' roadside stations are community hubs where you can purchase local goods and folk crafts to take home as a souvenir. After this, the bus will depart at 4pm to return the group to Koriyama Station, where trains can be taken towards Tokyo or Sendai.
