Kitakata City is known as one of Japan's ramen kingdoms, with an abundance of ramen shops throughout the storied old city. In this one-of-a-kind experience, you'll dive into the history of ramen in Kitakata by making it yourself, walking through the town with an English-speaking guide, and learning why this region became so famous for its delicious local delicacy. To the people of Kitakata, ramen is not simply food, but a form of culture. In this experience, you'll be guided by the former owner of one of Kitakata's many ramen establishments as you carefully follow the recipe that made this area so legendary. In Kitakata, ramen chefs bring their noodles in from specific suppliers, so as ramen chef you will focus on perfecting the broth and chashu pork that form the base of the dish. While the soup stock takes shape, you'll take a walk through the historic warehouse district of Kitakata. With the help of your guide, you'll learn about Kitakata's ramen story, and how the local clear mountain waters played a vital role in the development of ramen and brewing culture in this region. Note: This activity may be subject to change or cancellation in the event of unforeseen circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
