On this tour, you can ride a private taxi and visit the sightseeing spots of your choice in the Minamiaizu region. We recommend visiting the Okuaizu Museum, where you can try indigo dyeing using ancient techniques! You can also experience the wonderful scenery of traditional Japan at Maezawa Magariya Village, a beautifully-preserved village in the forst with unique architecture where you will feel as if you’ve slipped into Japan’s past! If you are unsure of where to go, worry not! Just ask your driver, who will recommend the best spots according to the season and dates. They will show you a map with spots that can be enjoyed both by season and year-round, and you can choose where you’d like to visit most. Oku-Aizu Museum and Indigo Dyeing Experience
The Oku-Aizu Museum is home to a number of kominka (古民家) – which translates as ‘old Japanese-style houses‘ – which, over the years, have been brought to and maintained at the museum. Experience traditional rural Japan by seeing firsthand how people lived back in the old days. At the museum you can try your hand at indigo dyeing, a local tradition that has become more and more rare with the advent of modern times. The experience is available from May to September. (Admission to the Oku-Aizu Museum and indigo dyeing experience are not included in the tour price).

Maezawa Magariya Village
・Tateiwa (known as ‘Maezawa’) is a village in Minamiaizu famous for its unique L-shaped thatched roof houses. You can stroll around the village and appreciate the intricate details of the traditional architecture. ・You can also visit a viewpoint from which you can contemplate the village, or visit the Maezawa Shuraku Museum (資料館), where you'll learn more about the folk and history of the village. ・We recommend having lunch at one of the restaurants in the village. (Meals and admission to the museum are not included in the tour fee)
